The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken action in several cases of alleged money laundering and corruption in West Bengal, carrying out a series of searches and seizures, and issuing summonses over the past few weeks as the State Assembly election unfolds.

On April 11, searches were conducted at the residence of former Trinamool Congress (TMC) Minister Partha Chatterjee and the office of “middleman” Prasanna Kumar Roy, who is currently in judicial custody. The ED had arrested Mr. Chatterjee in July 2022 in the primary teachers’ recruitment scam case. He was granted conditional bail by the Supreme Court in early 2025.
