A day after being selected as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Opposition India bloc, Tejashwi Yadav began his campaign on Friday (October 24, 2025) by appealing to voters to give him one chance. Asserting that unemployment is the biggest enemy in Bihar, he claimed that he had generated five lakh jobs when he was Deputy Chief Minister of the State, and can do more if given an opportunity.

Bihar’s per capita income is still the lowest in the country, despite Nitish Kumar ruling Bihar as Chief Minister for 20 years, and Narendra Modi holding the Prime Minister’s post for the past 11 years, Mr. Yadav said.

“It really pains me to say that Bihar has maximum poverty and unemployment in the country. Even migration is most in our State and there are no industries nor any factories. Crime has increased manifold and there is no action against it. Corruption is at its peak in Bihar and I bet you that no work is done in the government offices without giving bribes,” Mr. Yadav said, addressing a poll rally in support of RJD candidate Yusuf Salahuddin in the Simri Bakhtiyarpur assembly seat in Saharsa district. He explained that people migrate from Bihar for three reasons: studies, jobs, and better medical services.

‘Will keep promises’

The RJD leader insisted that he does not make broken and false promises nor does he speak nonsense. “I will do what I have said, and I will say what I will do. My aim is to make Bihar number one. If Tejashwi becomes the Chief Minister of Bihar, he will make the 14 crore Biharis chinta mukt (tension free),” he said.

Mr. Yadav claimed that whenever the Prime Minister visits Bihar, he comes wearing the glasses of hatred and with the resolve to break his own record for lying.

“During the 20 years of NDA rule, 20,000 innocent people have been brutally murdered in Bihar under the protection of the ruling party. The Central government’s data on unemployment is confirming this. Now two Gujaratis, in collusion with the Bhunja Party [a group of close associates of Nitish Kumar], are hatching a deep conspiracy to defame Bihar and enslave it,” he said.

‘Who is NDA’s CM face?’

Mr. Yadav also addressed public meetings in Keoti, Paaru, and Ujiarpur assembly constituencies in support of the INDIA bloc candidates.

In Darbhanga’s Keoti, he asked who was the CM candidate of the ruling NDA.

“They have not even declared the face of the Chief Minister. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have decided not to make Nitish Kumar ji as the Chief Minister. Amit Shah has already confirmed that the elected legislators will select the CM,” Mr. Yadav said, recalling that Mr. Kumar had twice joined hands with the RJD to form the government, leaving the NDA’s fold. He alleged that the BJP has now hijacked the CM and is not allowing him to take any decisions of his own.
