Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejahwi Yadav on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) launched his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ terming it a fight against unemployment, inflation and atrocities against women.

During the five-day campaign, he will be travelling to 10 districts of the State that were untouched during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

While talking to journalists in Patna before leaving for Jehanabad, Mr. Yadav said that ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ has started from today and he will be covering the remaining districts which were untouched during the previous yatra.

Asked about the motive of the current march, Mr. Yadav said: “With a new resolution, we want to build a new Bihar and remove unemployment, inflation and poverty. He asserted that this yatra is for the respect of farmers and labourers and for the safety of mothers and sisters. He also added that the yatra is taken out to set up new factories and industries in Bihar.”

On the first day, he travelled to four Assembly constituencies in Jehanabad, Patna and Nalanda districts. Later, he will travel to Begusarai, Khagaria, Madhepura, Saharsa, Supaul, Samastipur, Ujiarpur and will conclude in Vaishali district on September 20, 2025.

Mr. Yadav along with Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and other senior leaders of the party travelled in a modified bus and addressed the gathering while standing on the top of the vehicle. RJD supporters and workers were continuously shouting slogans in support of calling him the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

He first addressed a gathering at Jehanabad Gandhi Maidan and asserted that people want change in Bihar. Attacking the Nitish Kumar government, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly claimed that “Bihar is being run by two Gujaratis”.

“This time the public is in the mood for change, wherever I am going people are complaining about corruption and crime. Our aim is to give a corruption- and crime-free government to Bihar. This yatra is to give employment to the youth; I have come here to appeal to throw out the Nitish Kumar government. Sarkar girana hai aur gareeb ka raj lana hai (topple the regime and bring a pro-poor government),” Mr. Yadav said.

During the public meeting, several RJD supporters protested against RJD MLA of Jehanabad Assembly constituency Suday Yadav with placards stating ‘Suday ko hatao, Jehanabad bachao’ (remove Suday, save Jehanabad) showing to Mr. Yadav.

Addressing a public meeting in Islampur Assembly constituency of Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr. Yadav alleged that the Chief Minister has been hijacked by the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Now, the State government is being run from Delhi, you all must have seen that, he is no longer the same Nitish Kumar. Two to four people have plotted a big conspiracy against him. When I see him today, it hurts a lot. Nitish Kumar is not running the government, it is being run by two Gujaratis. He is the same Nitish Kumar who once called Modi ji for food, then snatched the plate away. Now, such a situation has come where he is touching the feet of Narendra Modi,” Mr. Yadav said.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Yadav also attacked Prime Minister Modi over his Purnea rally in which Mr. Modi had charged the Opposition party for “shielding and defending infiltrators”.

“Let us, for a moment, assume that there are infiltrators in Bihar. Then the question arises, what have you (Modi) been doing all along? You have been in power for 11 years. Besides, you (BJP-led NDA) have been ruling the State for 20 years,” Mr. Yadav said.

He wondered if the ruling dispensation has been able to identify a single infiltrator in Bihar.

He added that it is a bogey they had similarly raised in Jharkhand last year when Assembly polls were underway there and now, they have forgotten about that. Mr. Yadav further claimed that the issue of infiltration is raised as diversionary tactics.
