Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and the State’s Leader of Opposition have at least one thing in common – their love for guns.

All three have filed their nomination papers for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election. According to his election affidavit filed on Wednesday (October 15, 2025), Mr. Yadav has an Italian Beretta NPB 380 bore pistol and 50 rounds of bullets worth ₹1.5 lakh. His rival, Mr. Choudhary, who submitted his nomination papers on Thursday (October 16, 2025), has a rifle worth ₹4 lakh and a revolver, given by his father, worth ₹2 lakh. Mr. Sinha owns a rifle and a revolver.

Mr. Yadav and his family have total assets worth ₹8.98 crore, including movable assets worth ₹6.12 crore. His wife Rajshree, alias Rachel Iris Godinho, has ₹59.69 lakh and their two minor children, Katyayani Irish Yadav and Iraj Lalu Yadav, have over ₹40 lakh.
Mr. Yadav has 18 criminal cases pending against him, and four are under appeal. The 36-year-old has mentioned that he has studied till Class 9. He and his family have jewellery worth ₹86.9 lakh – 980 grams of gold worth ₹83.93 lakh and 3.5 kg of silver worth ₹2.97 lakh. He does not own any vehicles, the affidavit said.
Mr. Yadav has two joint savings accounts at a private bank with his mother Rabri Devi and elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav.
Mr. Tej Pratap, who has been expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, has formed his own political party Janshakti Janata Dal. He has filed his nomination papers for the Mahua Assembly seat. His movable assets are worth ₹91.65 lakh. He has immovable property in agricultural and non-agricultural land worth ₹1.96 crore and owns 200 grams of gold valued at ₹22 lakh apart from a motorcycle worth ₹6.85 lakh and a fleet of cars. The leader has eight criminal cases pending against him.
Besides the two guns, Mr. Choudhary has total assets of worth ₹99.32 lakh, including jewellery and bullion of ₹20 lakh, and a car. His wife, Kumari Mamta, has total assets worth ₹27.89 lakh and his two children have assets of ₹67.13 lakh. The Deputy Chief Minister has immovable assets of ₹2.3 lakh, his wife’s immovable assets are valued at ₹65.59 lakh. The leader has two criminal cases pending against him.
Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor had questioned his educational qualification, alleging that he had failed in the Class 10 exam. As per the affidavit, Mr. Choudhary’s highest qualification is Doctor of Litt (Honorary) from Kamraj University.
Mr. Sinha has total assets worth over ₹1 crore. He has bank deposits of ₹29 lakh and has invested more than ₹45 lakh in the share market. He has 90 grams of gold worth ₹10 lakh, received as gift during a family marriage. His wife Sushila Devi’s total assets are worth ₹2.81 crore, this includes 450 grams of gold worth ₹49.5 lakh, an SUV worth over ₹24 lakh and a capital balance of over ₹1.27 crore in Shiva Enterprises.
Mr. Sinha, who filed his papers on Wednesday (October 15, 2025), has immovable property of ₹3.2 crore, whereas his wife has property worth ₹4.5 crore, which includes agricultural and commercial land in Mokama, Patna and Pune.

Janata Dal (United) candidate Anant Singh, also known as Chhote Sarkar, has declared assets of ₹37.88 crore. The ‘Bahubali’ leader, a former don, has 28 criminal cases pending against him.
His wife, Neelam Devi, won the Mokama seat on an RJD ticket in 2020 and later moved to the NDA. While Mr. Singh has immovable assets worth ₹11.22 crore, his wife has movable assets worth ₹13.07 crore and immovable assets worth ₹49.65 crore.
Mr. Singh, the five-term MLA from Mokama, has gold jewellery worth ₹15 lakh, while his wife has gold jewellery worth ₹76.61 lakh. He owns three luxury SUVs valued at ₹3.23 crore, while his wife owns three cars valued at ₹77.62 lakh. Their assets also include horses and cows worth ₹1.9 lakh.
