With the BJP looking at a comfortable win in Delhi Assembly elections, the party’s Patparganj candidate Ravinder Singh Negi won from the constituency.

With over 74,060 votes, Mr. Negi won by a margin of 28,072 votes. according to data from the Election Commission of India. Avadh Ojha of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finished second with 45,988 votes and Congress’ Anil Kumar was at the third place with 16,549 votes.
The BJP won 13 Assembly seats and was leading in 34 while the AAP won 11 and was leading in 12 seats. The Congress was yet to open its account, as of 2.45 p.m., according to the ECI.
Mr. Negi, notoriously, forced all meat shops to close in east Delhi’s Vinod Nagar area during Navratri in 2023 when he was a councillor. In a video that garnered widespread attention then, Mr. Negi was seen asking meat shops in the area to down their shutters. “We didn’t force them to shut their shops, we just requested them to do so keeping in mind the religious beliefs and sentiments of devotees,” he had said.
More recently, PM Modi, in a viral video, was seen bowing to touch Mr. Negi’s feet. Mr. Modi was addressing an election rally in Delhi when Mr. Negi bowed to touch his feet once on stage and in response, Mr. Modi was seen bowing to touch his feet thrice.
