Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (March 30, 2026) said the past decade of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s double-engine government ended years of instability in Assam and underscored the need to make first-time voters aware of Congress misrule.

Addressing around five lakh booth-level party workers in the poll-bound State as part of the motivational ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad’ programme, Mr. Modi said they must remind people how the Congress used to make “misleading” and “ineffective” peace agreements. He claimed that things changed after the BJP came to power in Assam.

“We can see a new confidence today as the BJP’s double-engine government has made every effort for peace,” he said, urging the workers to work harder for the BJP-led NDA government’s hat-trick of electoral victory in Assam.
Mr. Modi advised the party workers to make first-time voters aware of the misrule during the previous Congress governments in Assam. “Peace is Assam’s primary requirement, and even the smallest mistake can push the State back,” he said.
