The Chief Ministers of non-BJP-ruled States, especially in southern India, on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) stepped up their attacks against the Union Government’s proposal on delimitation ahead of the implementation of reservation for women.

Even as Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin warned of a massive protest that would “bring the State to a standstill” if the Centre’s delimitation proposal affected the southern States and offered more political power to the northern States, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy asked him to spearhead a united front of southern States against the proposed “pro rata” formula for increasing Lok Sabha seats.
