The police have put in place heightened security arrangements at as many as 351 sensitive polling booths in Kozhikode district based on the latest vulnerability assessment report. Following instructions from the election authorities, the entry and exit of voters at the booths will be closely monitored using CCTV cameras.

As a majority of sensitive booths are in the rural areas, there will be 1,600 police officers on duty to ensure a trouble free election. Deployment of over 1,000 officers from the Central Armed Police Force also has been completed to add an additional layer of security.

For over a month, the police have been carrying out flash inspections with the support of bomb detection and disposal squads in politically sensitive areas of the district to ensure a peaceful election. Police officers from various rural stations said night patrolling and flash vehicle inspections would continue to maintain peace.
